On Wednesday, 14th January, a landmark charity housing project on Leroy Street reached an important milestone, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the completion of nine refurbished container homes designed to support the local homeless community.
Delivered by Hill Partnerships, the scheme showcases how innovative construction methods can deliver real social value. Manufactured at Hill’s Midlands factory and installed with specialist works on site, the development provides nine high-quality, self-contained homes for Southwark Council.
Statom Group, working alongside SPARK-TECH MEP, spent six working weeks on site supporting the delivery of the project, helping to bring the vision from the factory floor to finished homes.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by the council, brought together project partners to celebrate a collaborative effort that highlights the power of modern construction, partnership working, and community-focused development. The completed scheme stands as a strong example of how the industry can respond creatively to social challenges, delivering safe, dignified accommodation where it is most needed.

The Leroy Street project underlines a shared commitment across all partners to innovation, collaboration, and making a meaningful difference within local communities.
Nigel Chandler, Business Development Director, commented:
“We are proud to have been part of the Leroy Street project, supporting the delivery of much-needed accommodation for the local homeless community. This scheme demonstrates what can be achieved through strong collaboration, innovative construction, and a shared commitment to social value. Working alongside Hill Partnerships, Southwark Council, and the wider project team, we were delighted to help bring this important development to life and deliver high-quality, self-contained homes that will make a real difference locally.”
