Statom Group were awarded the remediation and enabling works contract by Weston Homes.
Works included; Concrete slab breakout, obstruction removal, removal of soil and groundwater contamination, installation of pile mats and protection of the historic Abbey Wall.
On the project, there was circa 8000m3 of concrete processed and reused within the development. This was used for pile mats and fill materals to contruct a platform for the stakeholder’s welfare and show units.
All the TPH contaminated materials were treated on site to achieve the set reuse criteria, once these targets were reached, the materials were reused on site. The asbestos containing materials were removed off site to a licensed treatment facility for further processing at a waste transfer station.
This site was put to a commercial/industrial end-use from the late 19th century to the mid- 1980s when the former Abbey Road Retail Park was established. The site was demolished back in 2016/2017 and had remained undeveloped since then.
